Michelle Calhoun is a graduate of Michigan State University’s distinguished accounting program and has been a partner at Brigham, Calhoun, Whitson & Associates, PC since 2011. As founder Clifton Brigham’s first partner, she played a pivotal role in the firm’s growth, helping expand the practice from three employees to a team of more than twenty professionals.
Michelle began her accounting career nearly four decades ago and has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years. While accompanying her husband throughout his military career, she gained broad and diverse experience working with mid-sized accounting firms across the country. In 2001, she settled in Williamsburg, where she developed a deep appreciation for the community and its people.
Known for her dedication to client service, Michelle is committed to providing thoughtful guidance and high-quality solutions to those who entrust her with their accounting needs. In addition to her extensive experience in tax planning and preparation, she has a particular passion for assisting clients with the complex challenges of estate and trust matters.
Michelle is an active member of the Peninsula Estate Planning Council and previously served on its board for five years. She also served for eight years on the board of Grove Christian Outreach. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA).

With over 30 years of accounting, business and tax experience, Steve has served as a trusted business partner to clients throughout the United States. Steve continues to provide services to individuals, trusts, estates, non-profits and businesses of all sizes, and has established a reputation of integrity, expertise and commitment. He earned his bachelor's and accounting degrees at the Florida State University before relocating to Williamsburg over a decade ago.
His passion is to help guide surviving spouses, trustees, and executors from estate planning to estate administration. Steve is a current officer and board member of the Virginia Peninsula Estate Planning Council and former board member of the Arc of Greater Williamsburg. He is also a current member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA).

Bruce MacLeod, a graduate of James Madison University’s School of Business in 2002, has been helping clients around the country with their accounting needs for over 20 years. He graduated in 2010 from Liberty University with a Master of Science in Accounting. He was born and raised in the Hampton Roads area. He started his accounting career with our firm and has advanced his way to ownership. He has been able to connect with and help many small businesses in our local area grow and be more successful. Bruce specializes in tax planning and compliance services for individual and businesses in many industries such as real estate, medical, recruiting, and construction.
Bruce resides in Williamsburg with his wife and two children. He has served as Treasurer of his local church and continues to be active in the local community. He also is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA), and the member of the VSCPA Tidewater Chapter.

Carrie has been part of our team since September 2022. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2003 and her Master of Accountancy with a concentration in Taxation in 2004, both from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
As a military spouse, Carrie had the opportunity to live and work in several states, gaining valuable experience along the way. She became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Virginia in 2010. After taking some time off to focus on her family, she's excited to be returning to her full-time accounting career. Carrie is passionate about helping clients navigate all aspects of their tax needs—whether it’s supporting small business owners, developing effective tax strategies, preparing returns, or providing trusted advice during important life moments like marriage, retirement, or new job opportunities.
Carrie lives in Yorktown with her husband and their three kids. Outside of work, she stays busy supporting her children’s various sports and activities. She is an active member of the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).
